FAQ
I will try and cover all of the questions that are asked. If you have any other questions please feel free to pop me a email, I'm always happy to help where I can.
What can you preserve?
I can preserve a range of different items which are flowers, clothing, ashes, hair, fur, ribbon, wooden discs, laminated photos, charms, pregnancy tests and rings. If you have a item which you'd like preserving which is not mentioned on this list please send a email and we can discuss whether it would be possible to preserve.
When should I book my space?
As soon as you know you'd like something preserving book that space! I do fill up fast and i am limiting the amount of bookings I take per month. You will also lock in prices at the time of booking which could result in a saving for yourself. If I do increase my prices you will always pay the prices quoted at the time of booking.
How do i book my space?
This is a really easy process. If you can send me a email at samantha@preservedwithresin.co.uk or send me a facebook/instagram message i will confirm if I have your date available. I will then send you a booking invoice. The cost of booking is £10.00. Once that booking invoice has been paid, you're booked in! I will then send you a email/message around 3 weeks before your date to discuss what you'd like creating from your special flowers.
When do i pay for my items?
After we have professionally dried your flowers and are ready to place them within the resin. I will send you a email/message just to check in to see if you are ready for your invoice. If so, I will send your invoice via email and begin your items the next working day after payment is received.
How do I send my flowers to you?
Once your booking is confirmed, I’ll provide you with clear instructions on how to carefully package and send your flowers to me. I’ll guide you through the process so your flowers arrive as safely and fresh as possible.
Will you send back the flowers that haven't been used?
No. Fresh flowers wouldn't survive another round in the post after we have taken what we need from them. I also only dry what is needed for your order so i rarely have any flowers which are left over.
Do you preserve fresh or dried flowers?
Both! I dry the fresh flowers before they are placed within the resin. Therefore, I can preserve fresh, dried and also faux flowers within the resin. They all look great! I can also preserve flowers which you have dried yourself within the resin too.
How soon do I need to send my flowers?
Ideally, your flowers should reach me as soon as possible after your special occasion. The sooner I receive them, the better the chance of achieving a beautiful result. For example, if your special ocassion falls on a Friday then you'd need to trim the stems on an angle by a CM and place in water until posting to me on the Monday via Royal Mail Next day delivery guarenteed by 1pm.
Can you include other sentimental items?
In many cases, yes. Small sentimental items such as ribbons, charms, photographs or other meaningful details may be incorporated depending on the size and design of your chosen piece. Please get in touch to discuss your ideas.
Do you provide the packaging to get my flowers to you?
No. I couldn't possibly store all of the different sized boxes needed for you to send your flowers to us. Each bouquet, flower we preserve is a different size. Also, it would cost more to send you the box to send back to us. I don't mind if you'd like to recycle and reuse a box to send your flowers to me. Aslong as it's the right size.
What is a freestanding frame?
The freestanding frame is a frame that freestands. We do not supply glass for the front or a stand for the back. It is simply a frame. I will apply furniture dots to the base and also glue dots to the back for you to attach your photo. This enables you to be able to change the photo when needed.
I've sent you my flowers but I haven't heard anything since they were received, why is this?
I will send you a photo of your flowers to confirm their safe arrival. I will then put them to dry. They will take approx 4-5 weeks to dry. I then have a turn around time after they have dried before I can place them within the resin. Please do not worry if you've received no communication, it is simply because i do not have an update. As soon as I am ready to place them within the resin I'll send you a email/message and check that you are ready for your invoice. I will then place the flowers within the resin the next working day after payment is received. If sending me your flowers you put your trust into me too.
Do flowers change colour through the drying process?
Quite simply, yes. There are some flowers that do change colour through the drying process. White flowers tend to change their shade of colour to a more cream or even yellow tone. This is due to their natural pigments showing through. Lisuanthus flowers do change, white can change to yellow, pink and purples can also change their shade to either darker or lighter. The flowers sometimes lose sizing, this is because all of the moisture is being sucked out of the flowers.
How long does it take for you to reply to a email/message? Are you available 24/7?
No I am not available 24/7. I am trying my hardest to have a good work/life balance. I will aim to reply to your emails/messages within 3 working days. If your email/message is urgent then all I ask is for you to start your email/message with the word URGENT. I don't answer emails/messages after 5pm.
How many flowers would you need?
If booking in for wedding flower preservation then I always recommend sending your whole bouquet. This is so I can pick the best of the bunch for the items ordered. However, if you are only ordering smaller items I am happy to discuss what flowers would be needed for this. When booking in for memorial/funeral flower preservation then it depends on what items are ordered. I am always happy to discuss and advise what stems would fit within the chosen moulds.
How many items can you get from my flowers?
This question is hard to answer. It depends how big your bouquet or memorial truibute is. Usually you can get one larger item and several smaller items from a bouquet. Memorial tributes are usually alot larger so you can usually get quite a few items from a tribute.
